About Pause
The pause (also called a fermata) is indicated by a dot beneath a curved line (𝄐) placed above or below a note or rest. It instructs the performer to sustain the note for longer than its written value — typically around one and a half to two times the original duration, though the exact length is left to the performer's or conductor's judgement.
